Hello

We’re Rebecca & Rich, founders of Harth. Born in the middle of lockdown from a love of good food and even better hot chocolate.

What started in a Somerset kitchen, with a few doorstep drop-offs to friends, quickly (and gloriously) got out of hand. But our story really began much earlier. We first met back in 2010 while working as head chef and restaurant manager at a veggie restaurant in Bath. After going our separate ways for a while, we reunited in 2020 to collaborate on a few food projects and that’s when things started to click.

Around the same time, Rich’s wife Helen launched a chocolate truffle company, which got us thinking more seriously about chocolate and what actually goes into it. With young families of our own, we’d started paying closer attention to ingredients, and were surprised by how many chocolate products were packed with unnecessary additives, preservatives and overly processed ingredients.

We believe chocolate should still feel like a treat, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be full of things you can’t pronounce. So we set out to create something better. Chocolate that’s simple, honest, and made with care. The kind we’d happily give to our own families, and proudly share with friends.

From those early kitchen experiments to our first small batches, Harth has always been about doing things properly: great ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and making products that taste as good as they feel. What began as a lockdown project soon grew into something much bigger and we’re still just getting started.

We use natural, unalkalized cocoa for a richer, more complex chocolate flavor that’s also higher in fiber. To sweeten our milkshakes and barista hot chocolate, we turn to coconut blossom sugar, which has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar, giving you gentle, natural sweetness without the spike. Simple, thoughtful ingredients that make every cup feel indulgent and wholesome.

It’s also why we proudly support the Seagrass Project, helping to protect the special spaces that inspire us and bring joy to so many.
